: I may not be a for-real cowboy, but I am one hell of a stud…Thank heaven Jon Voight has seen fit to train his formidable powers as a political strategist [tip: HuffPo] on the race for the White House, with a hairfine, devastating assault on the presumptive Democratic nominee – you see, we hang on the precipice of a socialist surrender, and risk squandering the steadfast shore-up of liberty built up so painstakingly these last seven years. Do it for the children.
Not that what’s left of a grown-up Right among the Americans really needed Papa Jolie’s aid and comfort in its self-induced terminal cancer – what with Ben Stein tugging heartstrings on behalf of the theocons in the cheap seats, and Dennis Miller offering grad-school smirks straight outta Senior Scholastic,
the GOP has enough Hollywood muscle to hold America fast to the mast through any siren-seduced electoral odyssey. And should that for some reason stall in the final mile, there’s always Rush Limbaugh thumping the tub on behalf of Chinese dialaRechticar mateliarism, the better to turn the One Billion Point Five into loyal-American, gas-slurping Manchurian car-did-ates…
Mad props, though, to Jon for making Brent “Newsbuster” “The Media is [sic] Liberal” Bozell and R. Emmett “Bob” “Chicken McMencken” Tyrrell sound like Goethe by contrast; help save relativism from the relativists…his piece really is museum-worthy – a virtual ne plus ultra of the Dolchstoss right so noisy between these shores, esp. since 1992 – every word – including “a” “and” and “the” (to borrow from Mary McCarthy’s libel-trigger on Lillian Hellman on Dick Cavett) – a gross distortion or half-truth stretched to break, à la Limbaugh…and as trained an entertainer as the latter, Voight knows the brow-arching power of a good opener (emphasis added):
We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children…
Ugh. Voight must have written that himself. It is written at a seventh grade level. Simplistic hardly begins to describe it. Guess I wasnt programmed correctly.
I had not realized Tyrrell went to Indiana University. Not surprising I guess as I grew up there and it is VERY conservative. Clinton may have been a sleaze bag, but what they heck were they doing wasting my tax money asking him about his sexcapades. What a blot on our history.
Thanks for the pointer to Limbaugh’s piece. I am stuck at work and hadnt had time to track it. The Chinese subsidize their gas to $2 a gallon. He wants us to do the same? Hello! Price signals anyone. Free market. What a windbag.
